Shees Village traces its origins back to the pre-oil era, reflecting a long-standing connection between community and landscape. One of its most defining features is the traditional falaj irrigation system located in the old village, dating back approximately 3,000 years, a testament to early water management practices in the region.
The village continues to preserve elements of traditional Emirati architecture, including mud-brick houses and narrow pathways, offering a glimpse into the way of life that shaped the community over generations.

Shees Village brings together a collection of experiences that reflect its natural surroundings, cultural depth, and community character.
Each destination offers a different way to experience the village, whether through cultural exploration, outdoor activity, or moments of rest within a natural setting.
Modern Developments in Shees Village
Shees Village has seen a series of developments aimed at enhancing accessibility and improving the overall visitor experience, while maintaining its cultural identity.
Upgrades to roads, utilities, and telecommunications have strengthened connectivity across the area, making the village more accessible for both residents and visitors. Supporting this, the Shees Petrol Station provides essential services, including ATM facilities, parking, and staff accommodation, while a newly constructed mosque with a distinctive architectural design serves the local community and visitors.
Tourism-related enhancements have focused on improving visitor facilities and supporting guided experiences, ensuring easier access while preserving the character of the village.
The old village, spanning approximately 6,595 square metres, includes traditional houses, a zaroob, and a mosque, and is currently undergoing restoration. The works focus on replacing roofs with traditional designs, restoring house walls, preserving the falaj water channels, and maintaining cladding and pathways in a way that respects the original architectural character.
At the same time, Shees Park is undergoing expansion across approximately 38,755 square metres, extending around 290 metres in length, with the development introducing landscaped green areas, shaded seating spaces, children’s play areas, as well as barbecue and picnic facilities.
Conservation Efforts
Preserving the character of Shees Village remains a key priority, with ongoing initiatives focused on safeguarding both its cultural heritage and natural environment. Restoration projects and heritage programmes continue to support the protection of the village’s identity, while environmental efforts aim to preserve the landscape, support biodiversity, and encourage sustainable practices that ensure long-term ecological balance.
The local economy has historically been shaped by agriculture and handicrafts, reflecting the traditions and daily life of the community. In recent years, tourism has become an increasingly important contributor, supporting local businesses, retail activity, guided experiences, and a growing range of visitor services, while remaining closely connected to the cultural fabric of the village.

Shees Village is accessible by road via well-maintained highways connecting it to surrounding areas, making it a convenient destination within the eastern region of Sharjah.
